Home to Dukes of Burgundy for 4 centuries, Dijon is a magnificent combination of colour and culture. Set on a large square with fountains, the Ducal Palace houses a fabulous fine art museum. You can climb Philippe Le Bon tower here for wonderful views of the multi-coloured tiles typical of the city’s roofs.
Equally as vibrant are the half-timbered facades in the Old Town. The best examples are in cobbled Place François Rude, where relaxed bars and cafes offer good people watching.
On a grander scale is Place Darcy whose Porte Guillaume arch faces a shady park. Dijon’s many green spaces include huge Parc de la Colombière whose central path was considered by Louis XIV the most beautiful in his kingdom. Another popular walk is along Promenade de l'Ouche starting near the hospital and ending at large Kir Lake where you can swim.
This is an evidently wealthy city, so there are plenty of places to shop, but a must-see is Les Halles market, designed by Gustav Eiffel, architect of the tower.
Don’t check out of your Dijon hotel, apartment or B&B without touching the owl on the side of Notre Dame church – use your left hand for good luck. Dijon Airport is a domestic airport, but the city is easily reached by car and train.
Great shopping and dining experiences in Dijon. Fantastic walkable city center for shopping and exploring the historic and cultural sites. The food scene is amazing with tons of amazing and creative restaurants, local options and you have to check out the big indoor market. Great options in the surrounding area for short day trips.

Loved the place.
Loved the place. First time we’ve visited and enjoyed walking round - there are free shuttle buses to take you to places in the city but much of it is pedestrianised. Good shops and restaurants and bars. Art galleries and museums. Need to check opening timing. We found people to be friendly and very helpful to us. Would revisit. Also good to visit is Beaune - a town just down the road.

We only stayed overnight.
We only stayed overnight. The area near Les Halles had several restaurants in different price ranges.
For guests at the Hotel Wilson, set the GPS for Place du President Wilson, not for rue de Longvic, the address of the hotel - it starts a long way out in Longvic!

Dijon is a lovely old town with layers of history and architectural styles. Numerous secret courtyards to discover accidentally. It boasts delicious restaurants from traditional French to Japanese-influenced flavors and presentation. Numerous lovely cafes and boutiques. Museum of Burgundy life was weirdly cool. Musee des Beaux Arts was mostly focused on religious to renaissance painting and a wonderful Pissaro landscape. Ended with a strong exhibituon of a contemporary female French sculptor and her partner.

A beautiful city and well worth a visit.
A beautiful city and well worth a visit. It has two cathedrals and both are most attractive inside. The main street " rue de la Liberte" is pedestrianised but be careful of the scooters and bikes which roar past you. Plenty of shops but brasseries, cafes and restaurants are not always obviously located. Choose wisely and the food and price will be excellent.
The museums are all worthwhile a visit and most are free unless there is a special exhibition.
Tourist map is fairly useless

Beautiful city, easily navigated on foot.
Beautiful city, easily navigated on foot.
So many good restaurants you are spolied for choice.
The museums are excellent.
Very good shopping, with many shops where you can buy regional specialities.
Nice front of house, the restaurant and bar was nice and the staff were friendly and accommodating.
While not fine dining, the food was decent and reasonably priced for what we had. Waitress was friendly and helpful, and good with the children.
Car parking seemed secure. We had no security issues and had a roof box, along with other Brits who appeared to be stopping while travelling through France, like us.
It's a good stopping location, and has rooms for a family of four, which is why we picked it.
Central location with walking distance to city centre. Parking seemed to always available in the streets nearby. Friendly personnell in the reception even though they seemed to have it very hectic. It seemed that the two gentlemen handled everything in the hotel including reception, cleaning and breakfast. Dijon is a very beautiful city and if you ask for a map at the reception you can find "a beaten track" to discover most of Dijon.
The hotel was the best value we had our whole week in France. The location is perfect - right on the edge of the Old Town, in a very quiet neighborhood (except for the construction....but the street is quiet in general). We had two rooms, a superior room with a street view and a double with a view of the back yards. Both were very nice - great beds, really nice bathrooms, windows that opened so we could enjoy the fresh air.
This is a Motel right next to the Highway, it is not something you would wanna stay at to get to know the city of Dijon. I was traveling through France by car, so it was perfect for me. I think the price is really fair, the bed was comfy and the room was clean, that was really all I was looking for. And the staff was extremely friendly, so I would definitely stay here again if I wanted to take a break from a long drive.
Responsive host, clear instructions. Marie met us in person to show the apartment and made sure we were settled. The apartment is comfortable, very clean, and tastefully designed with thoughtful touches. I appreciated the tourist information. We enjoyed the location and would stay here again. Parking nearby, plenty of cafes, grocery stores, bakeries. We enjoyed Dijon, especially dining and shopping.
This is a 2* hotel but it is very clean and well positioned in Dijon for walking into the city centre. There is parking on site which is tight but the staff are very helpful in fitting everyone it and helping one to leave in the morning. We had come from an apartment in Rheims without AC or fans so the cool and refreshing AC at Hotel Thurot was extremely welcome.
- The location was fabulous - a lovely street with less tourists than in many places in the city centre;
- The apartment was impeccably clean, really nicely decorated, and with great wiews from the window;
- The place was pet friendly;
- The host was super nice and helpful;
- Overall, if we were to stay in Dijon again, we would choose the same apartment!
This was a very nice hotel in the countryside on the outskirts of Dijon. It was therefore a great location for visiting Dijon as well as bike rides in the environment. The room was clean, overviewed a quiet village street. Hosts were very helpful at all times. There was parking at the hotel, which was locked up at night, felt safe.
Very clean hotel, very friendly staff. Nevertheless the hotel is near the train station, the entrance in the hotel is only with a hotel card, thus, it felt safe. Also, the room was very quiet, despite the central location. Very comfortable shower and very good breakfast (taking into account that it is France).
Convenient location close to the train station and at walking distance from the lively heart of Dijon, with free private parking. Good breakfast buffet with variety and quality. Clean and quiet rooms. Courteous staff. Good value for money with all you may expect from a Ibis hotel.
Easy to check in and out. Good communication with the owners. Comfy bed, a bath tub and a washing machine made the hotel very suitable for a sport-centered vacation. Also it's easy to both park a car and get a tram to the city center.
The host was extremely welcoming, helpful and communicative.
The flat is very clean and well equipped, and perfectly placed in the center of Dijon.
The check-in and check-out process was very easy and convenient.
Perfect place for a hassle free stopover on the long way back from the south of France to Benelux. Clean and modern hotel with very friendly staff. Two nice Restaurants and a Burger King right next to the hotel.
Very helpful staff, free secure car parking and a comfortable bed. Location excellent easy access from motorway and tram to city centre. Perfect for an overnight stop on the way to the South of France.
A very convenient stop-over in a cheap and cheerful motel where you can keep an eye on your car whilst on long-haul journeys heading north and south of France. Exhausted, so slept well.
Loved the central location. We did however get lucky with parking right outside but this doesn't happen a lot. The breakfast was great. Nice little part if france.
